FAQ

Q: What do you mean by “naturally sweetened”? Do your jams have added sugar?

  • I sweeten all of my jams with either maple syrup or honey from the midwest! The only exception is Pear Cardamom Jam, which uses coconut sugar. There is no white sugar/ corn syrup/ etc. in any of the preserves, and the first ingredient in any jar (by far) is fruit.
  • This means they are all lower on the glycemic index than a traditional jam, but I do not make anything with a sugar substitute/ no added sugar.
  • Any of my jams aren’t going to taste much like a grocery store brand- you’re going to get that fruit flavor first. The maple syrup or honey is actually going to lend flavor as well as sweetness.

Q: Do you ship?

  • For now, I can only ship to addresses in Illinois. If/ when I upgrade to a shared kitchen space, I will ship nationwide!

Q: Can I put this on toast?

  • Yes! All of the jams can be used as a classic toast topping, but you can also try them many different ways:
    • Swirled into yogurt
    • On a sandwich
    • With a cheese or charcuterie board
    • On waffles/ pancakes
    • In a cocktail
    • Layer cake filling

Q: Where do you bake/ can?

  • I currently make everything myself, from home! Chicago passed “Cottage Food” legislature in 2022 and I jumped right in to setting up my micro bakery.

Q: Where can I find you in person next?

  • Check my Instagram or sign up for my email updates for exact dates and monthly schedules. These can also be found in the blog posts.
  • I am at farmers markets through the summer, and do makers markets and pop ups in the winter.

Q: What’s the difference between jams and jellies?

  • The texture! Jams are made with pieces of fruit, mashed up and cooked down. They’ll have bits  of fruit in them and potentially seeds, depending on the flavor. Jellies are smooth and are strained. Fruit butters are cooked wayyyy down and pureed (despite the name, there’s no butter or dairy in them).

Q: Why don’t I see my favorite flavor of jam for sale?

  • It’s likely a seasonal flavor! I do a few flavors year round but especially in the summers, some flavors can move fast. I might be in the middle of a re-stock, or I could be out of that flavor until the fruit rolls back around next growing season. Subscribe to my email list to know what is coming soon and what’s almost gone!

Q: Are any of your items safe for my allergy?

  • While I take precautions to not cross- contaminate items, this is a cottage food operation that has potential for cross contact. Nothing is certified gluten/ nut/ etc free! Snack with caution.
